We've had opportunities to eat out a lot, especially when we are traveling. The list of places to eat does not include the usual ubiquitous "fast food" places like McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box, KFC, etc. I've seen McDonald's and Burger King restaurants around the world and we've had many meals at such places. However, because they are everywhere and offer mostly the same menu items, they have been omitted from our list. Other chain restaurants were included, such as Texas Roadhouse and Cracker Barrel, because we liked the experience at those places. Keep in mind that even though one or both of us have eaten at least once at every restaurant in the lists below, this does not constitute any recommendations. There are many places where we've had a meal that has no name of its own. This happens when a hotel provides a meal—usually breakfast—in a dining area in the hotel.

Many of the restaurants were visited only once for the following reasons: Too expensive for a second visit – Good food, but not how we liked it – Part of a tour – etc. The main reason we go to a restaurant only once is when we were just passing through an area while traveling. Because we often liked the places where we ate only once, I began this list just in case we visit a place more than once where we have an opportunity to visit a restaurant again. Unfortunately there are restaurants we really liked that are unnamed here because they are no longer in business. One of our favorite eatery places was a Tapas Bar in Barcelona, Spain that is no longer in business.
