Summary
The Draft Horse Classic (DRC) is held every year in Grass Valley, California
at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The event takes place in September. This gathering
of gentle giants – as draft horses are called – happens in the fairgrounds
arena. Along with the draft horse events, there are all kinds of demonstrations
going on outside the arena in open areas outdoors, and in various buildings around
the fairgrounds.
I had seen the Draft Horse Classic several times in the past, however, seeing
it again was a lot of fun. It was especially fun to be with Lynn who was attending
this fun event for the first time. I always enjoy an entertaining experience that
is also educational. I did learn more about draft horses, during this visit, to
add to information I had accumulated during past trips. This is an event that
the whole family can enjoy.
The RV campground had been greatly improved since the last time I was there.
This also was the first time I towed a car to this event. Having the car gave
us an opportunity to do a bit of exploring in the area around the fairgrounds.
It was very nice to be able to go back to our motorhome to rest in between various
exhibits. The highlight of the trip was getting to talk with a celebrity who happened
be a favorite of mine when I was a teenager.
