| Boarding the Submarine
Our ship was anchored out from the port so that we had to go ashore via a tender. It was
a short boat ride to shore where we boarded another boat that ferried us out to the submarine.
But, before getting on the boat named the “Malama Kai”, which would take us to the
submarine, a member of the crew positioned us next to the bow behind a life ring labeled Atlantis.
This was done so we could have a photo taken before we got on the boat. I was wondering if the
reason the picture was taken before we boarded the submarine was so there would be a way to identify
the passengers if the sub didn’t come back to the surface…Just kidding; they were
souvenir photos.

As the boat traveled out to the submarine, our cruise ship could be seen in the distance
making for a nice photo. It took only a short time for the boat to get to the submarine named
“Atlantis VI”. It was clear that the submarine crew knew what they were doing when
they quickly and efficiently moved everyone from the boat to the sub.
I was surprised at just how quickly all the passengers were loaded into the submarine. When
looking around inside the sub, as people moved to viewing locations, it looked very crowded.
I was surprised at just how many people were able to fit in the long narrow tube that was the
submarine. Once everyone was seated in their viewing position, the space seemed to be very comfortable.
