The first time I saw a Corvette was when I was 11 years old. I was a patrol
boy and one day, when I lowered my stop sign, the first car in the line of cars,
that I stopped, was a brand new sports car like I had never seen before. It was
a white roadster with bright red upholstery.
When I lifted my stop-sign, I saw the back of the car as it drove away. What
I noticed were the two small fins above each taillight. This might have been the
very first Corvette to arrive in Wichita. I've always had it in the back of my
mind that someday I would buy a Corvette. It took awhile, but now I have one and
I can tell you that it is really fun to drive.
Driving my 'Vette feels new like when I was a teenager, at the age of 15,
driving my first car, a 1938 Buick. I take a ride in my toy often. I've taken
trips into the Santa Cruz mountains as well as a road trip to the ocean where
I drove from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay on California Highway 1, the coastal
highway.
At one point I made a short side trip to Butano State Park. I had always
wanted to drive into the redwood forest to find this small park. The drive was
fun with beautiful scenery around every turn. Now I have to figure out how I can
take my Corvette with me when I travel in my motorhome.
As soon as the weather warmed up I took a drive with the targa top removed.
I drove through the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Again, this little
car is the most fun to drive of any car I've owned since I got my first car.
